One Direction have revealed they take inspiration from boy bands like Take That when getting ready to head out on stage.
‘Gotta Be You’ singer Louis Tomlinson says all five boys imitate each of their heroes to some extent when they perform live.
“When we are on stage sometimes we think we are someone else, or put ourselves in somebody else’s shoes,” Louis explained. “Liam [Payne] is a Take That boy. So he thinks he’s Gary Barlow.
“When you see somebody do something on stage I’ll replicate it and imagine I’m looking at me,” Liam admitted to the Daily Star. “It’s weird. There’s loads I steal from other people.”
Harry Styles added that he often looks to Coldplay front man Chris Martin for inspiration for his on-stage antics.
He said: “I love Christ Martin. Sometimes I do his jig on stage.”
One Direction kicked off their first headlining tour of the UK this week and are set to perform at Manchester’s O2 Apollo tonight (23rd December). {source}

Niall Horan from One Direction will need his Christmas dinner liquidised after having painful “train track” braces fitted on his teeth.
The Irish lad had the procedure done on Tuesday, which meant he couldn’t join in his band’s pre-gig ritual in Wolverhampton the next day.
The lads have taken to eating a Haribo sweet before each show.
Niall said: “I’ve just had a brace on this week so I won’t be eating sweets. It’s a bit sore so I can only eat soup. Maybe I could swallow it in one?”
Bandmate Louis Tomlinson has come up with the weird technique to help psych up the lad up before they head out in front of thousands of screaming girls.
He said: “We do the sweets like they’re drinks. We ‘cheers them’. It’s very strange but it’s for good luck.”
You can guarantee once Harry Styles turns 18 in February they will think of a different way to toast their gigs. {source}

After weeks of speculation fuelled by tantalising Twitter threads, it’s official – Harry “Babyface” Styles and Caroline “Cougar” Flack ARE an item…
The One Direction singer finally confirmed showbiz’s worst kept secret, when he revealed to me that he and 32-year-old Xtra Factor host Caroline are “really happy together”.
Well, sort-of… Within seconds of making his declaration of love while beaming like the child-he-is-at-Christmas, Harry backtracked with lightning velocity.
Panicking, stuttering and looking awkward, he twice declared: “I don’t want to talk about my personal life.”
When I ploughed on regardless, asking Harry if he had met Caroline’s family yet, he tried to change the subject – by joking that he was secretly dating bandmate Louis Tomlinson.
Then loyal Zayn Malik chipped in with: “He’s already said he didn’t want to discuss his personal life!”
Which made me feel about 12. Or, indeed, Harry’s age. But the floppy-haired 17-year-old is clearly one happy chappy at the moment.
Seven weeks into his fledging romance with Caroline, there was no keeping the beam off his gorgeous, dimpled face. And he was still smiling as she waved him off on the band’s UK tour – although she appeared to wipe a tear from her eye. Bless.
I caught up with Harry and the rest of One Direction before they took to the stage for their storming gig in Wolverhampton last night.
Chatting to the lads in their backstage dressing room – which came complete with a sauna and jacuzzi – Harry told me: “I don’t really want to talk about my private life but I’m happy. We’re good friends.”
When I complimented him on being a little too media-trained, he turned to his publicist and exclaimed: “Well trained. Woo! You hear that?!”
So there we have it: Harry and Caroline, game on.
Ever since the rumours of a romance started circulating, “Styck” – Styles and Flack, geddit? Oh, never mind – have got some, well, stick, over their 17-year age gap. And One Direction’s mentor, Simon Cowell, isn’t helping matters.
The X Factor guru recently sent the boys some £200 bottles of champagne – well, all of them bar Harry who is still underage. Liam Payne revealed: “When we did the charity single Simon sent us all some amazing bottles of Dom Perignon champagne each.
“He sent Harry some alcohol-free champagne… Simon caters for everyone’s needs! A good guy.”
Keen to get his own back, Harry joked that the lads were sending Simon, 52, some colouring books and crayons for Christmas. Louis added that they planned to send him some condoms, too.
Also going in the multi-millionaire’s Christmas stocking are some signed 1D dolls.
Harry is not the only member of the band who is off the market. Liam is loved-up with his dancer girlfriend Danielle Peazer, and Louis, who turn 20 tomorrow, is happy with his long-term girlfriend Eleanor Calder.
That just leaves Niall Horan and Zayn single – with Niall admitting he’d love a girlfriend in 2012.
Form an orderly queue, ladies.
